Trpe Stojanovski (Professor at the Faculty Security Studies, Skopje), Zuzana Shtevulova (Director of the Human Rights League) via Skype, Bratka Dejanovska (Chef of Division of Asylum, MoI R.M.)<\/p>\n<p>There were more than 50 participants to the session, WG 3 members and guests &#8211; lawyers, judges, university professors, NGO activists, Government officials, as well as, other interested individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Topic\/discussion:<\/p>\n<p>The topic of the Second Session of WG 4 was \u201cAsylum &#8211; International and Temporary Protection\u201d. The moderator, Magdalena Nestorovska, who opened the Session stressed that asylum is again in the focus of European countries, which are expected to distribute a huge number of migrants disproportionately distributed in EU countries. The problem with migrants is still very urgent, amid, the announcement that the migration wave can reappear at any moment. Macedonia is mostly a transit country on the way of the migrants and the country has to be prepared to face the eventual future influx of migrants.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Internal Affairs, Oliver Spasovski, In his opening speech pointed: &#8220;The Republic of Macedonia has the opportunity only for short-term temporary refugee care,&#8221; adding that two months ago in Macedonia a new Law on International and Temporary Protection came into force as an extension of the existing Law on Asylum, which defines the status, procedures and procedures in the process of protection of refugees.<\/p>\n<p>The debate involved a part of the expert public, analyzing the shortcomings and benefits of the new Law on International and Temporary Protection. It was concluded that this is a quality legal framework that regulates this issue, built on the basis of the previous one Law on Asylum in 2003, respecting, above all, the existing domestic regulations, but also paying attention to the obligations arising from the commitment for our full integration into the EU.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, as it was emphasized that the legal framework needs to be upgraded by adopting a series of by-laws and other acts that would ensure institutional operation and functionality of the law, its systemic implementation, more institutional action, as well as increasing the level of regional and international cooperation, especially in the part of the records, the exchange of data and information. \u00a0In other words, it is necessary to align the Macedonian legislation with the European asylum policy, which will not be an easy task, insofar as Europe still has no solution for asylum seekers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Blerim Reka from the South East European University in Tetovo and the Professor from the Faculty of Security at the &#8220;Ss.
